The Rev. Charlotte Sommers, Pastor
Charlotte earned her Masters of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School in 1984. In 1998 she also received her diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction from the San Francisco Theological Seminary. Her continuing education has focused on spirituality with pilgrimages to Taize’, France, and the Iona Community in Scotland. Charlotte joined Northminster in 2004 after serving as Associate Pastor for seven years at 1st Presbyterian Church, Greenwich, Connecticut, and then at West Side Presbyterian in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Charlotte is active in the Detroit Presbytery and is dedicated to promoting social justice and peace, especially among religions, both locally and globally. She was one of the earliest members and is currently serving as convener of the Troy-area Interfaith Group and the group’s first event in 2005, the Interfaith National Day of Prayer, was hosted by Northminster. She also started Northminster’s monthly Taize’ services and the Baby Basics outreach program. Contact Rev. Sommers at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Revs. Ann and Bill Robertson, Parish Associates
In late 2011, the Session agreed to the position of Parish Associate with Revs. Ann and Bill Robertson. The Robertsons volunteer their time, with the exception of when they preach, and fill a part time job description with flexible hours which allows them to travel and enjoy their family. Ann is involved in the work of the Worship & Music and Church, Society & Mission committees. Bill works with the Deacons and Stewardship & Finance committees. Both participate in staff meetings and assist with pastoral care, worship and other projects as they arise.
Ann and Bill have served churches in Florida, Vermont, and Ohio. They came to the Presbytery of Detroit in 2005. As members at large, they have served as Parish Associates at University Presbyterian, Rochester and Interim pastors at the Holly Presbyterian Church and the Auburn Presbyterian Church. Northminster is delighted to have these gracious, compassionate and welcoming people of faith join our pastoral team!
